Shanita Theil MA LPC

Shanita Theil is a Master’s level Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) who has earned her degree in Counselor Education at Western Michigan University. She has many years of experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and families in various systems including family preservation, foster care, community mental health, and outpatient settings. She is clinically trained in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TFCBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy for adults and adolescents (DBT/DBTA), and Brief Strategic Family Therapy (BSFT). Shanita is also well versed in various parenting techniques to address problematic behaviors and improve parent/child relationships. Shanita uses a person-centered eclectic approach to treating her clients and tries to meet clients where they are determine the best treatment. Her approaches involve evidence-based practices, play therapy, art therapy, role play, motivational interviewing, solution focused, and psychoeducation. Shanita treats clients with various mental health concerns with specialties in mood disorders, anxiety disorders, PTSD, childhood disorders, and parenting concerns.
